Karnataka picked up a bonus point victory in Group B in the Ranji Trophy in Mumbai on Sunday, securing a 10-wicket win over Assam after bowling their opponents out for only 264, thanks to Krishnappa Gowtham’s 7/108 in their second innings. Needing only 20 to win, Karnataka overhauled the target without losing a wicket, and in the process, going on top of Group B.

Bengal also gained a 43-run victory over Railways in Dharamsala, thanks in large part to pacer Ashok Dinda’s match haul of 10/112.

Over in Hyderabad, Maharashtra and Rajasthan shared honours in an exciting draw while over in Group C, Andhra defeated Haryana by 77 runs in Mumbai.

Group A

  • Baroda 529 and 37/0 drew with Punjab 670 all out. Manan Vohra’s fabulous 224 helped Punjab get the vital first innings lead
  • Bengal 205 and 214 beat Railways 105 and 271 by 43 runs. Ashok Dinda finished with match figures of 10/112 to give Bengal a well-deserved victory.
  • Gujarat 347 and 201 beat Uttar Pradesh 241 and 175 by 132 runs. Hardik Patel starred for Gujarat with figures of 7/72 in the second innings, leaving UP reeling.
  • Tamil Nadu 555/7 declared drew with Madhya Pradesh 273 and 222/5. Centuries from Kaushik Gandhi and Narayan Jagadeesan gave Tamil Nadu a towering first-innings lead.

Group B

  • Assam 325 and 264 lost to Karnataka 570/9 declared and 20/0 by 10 wickets. After a century apiece from Robin Uthappa, Karun Nair and Stuart Binny, Krishnappa Gowtham finished with figures of 7/108 to bowl Assam out
  • Odisha 237 and 274/8 drew with Delhi 495/8. Centuries from captain Gautam Gambhir and Milind Kumar ensured Delhi put up a big score in response to Odisha's 237.
  • Vidarbha 105 and 444 drew with Jharkhand 362/8 declared and 75/4
  • Maharashtra 461 and 145 drew with Rajasthan 330 and 4/0.

Group C

  • Andhra 253 and 220 defeated Haryana 103 and 293. Assam’s D Siva Kumar was the star of their bowling attack, picking up nine match wickets as Haryana lost against Assam
  • Kerala 207 and 307/2 declared drew against Chhattisgarh 187 and 249/6
  • Tripura 283 and 328/9 declared drew against Goa 269 and 328/8. In an exciting contest, Goa almost chased down their target of 343 but lost eight wickets doing so, in their second innings
  • Himachal Pradesh 36 and 301 beat Hyderabad 126 and 200/6
  • Services 477 drew with Jammu & Kashmir 612/8
