The Central Board of Secondary Education has ordered all schools under its purview to upload information related to the functioning of the institutes on or before November 30, The Times of India reported on Sunday. Most schools are protesting the order saying it amounts to a violation of their autonomy.
CBSE schools, in a memorandum dated October 25, have been ordered to upload disclosures related to the management, infrastructure, staff, finance, etc. The information to be disclosed will include a range of details from the WiFi speed, admission results, reserve funds to balance sheets, etc, according to the English daily's report.
In September, the board's chairperson Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi had issued an advisory asking schools to disclose information on their institute websites related to their fee structure and staff salary details by October-end. It was observed that most schools didn't own websites. CBSE had warned that students would be disallowed from appearing for their board examinations if schools did not comply with the directive. However, most schools failed to follow the directive.
The new order states that the information "shall be filed online through the link given on the board's website" and have asked schools to upload it on their websites as well.
