India’s Sania Mirza and Switzerland's Martina Hingis lost their women's doubles semi-final encounter in the WTA Finals on Saturday. The duo went down fighting against Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 6-3, 2-6, 6-10.
Santina as they are called, were seeded second and won the first set 6-3 without any hassle. However, trouble began in the second with the fourth-seeded Russian duo playing carefree tennis to win it 2-6. They then outclassed Mirza and Hingis in all departments to take the third set and match. This was Mirza and Hingis's first loss against the Russian duo in five matches.
