Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel outclassed title rivals Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in the second practice session at the Mexican Grand Prix on Saturday. The four-time champion cruised with a time of 1.19.790 to pip the Briton by 0.004 seconds. Rosberg, who can tie up the title on Sunday if results go his way, was 0.435secs behind Vettel.
Rosberg is 26 points ahead of Hamilton with 75 available over the remaining three races. The German will become the champion if he wins the Mexican GP and Hamilton finishes 10th or lower. Rosberg can afford to finish second even if Hamilton wins all the remaining races and still be champion.
In the first practice, Hamilton set the pace with 1.20.914, followed by Vettel (1.20.993) and his Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen (1.21.072). Rosberg finished seventh. The third practice and qualifying session will begin at 11.25 pm (IST) on Saturday.
