The big news: Juan Mata powers United to derby win

Jose Mourinho finally got the better of Pep Guardiola as Manchester United beat Manchester City 1-0 in their League Cup clash on Wednesday. Juan Mata netted the winner in the second half to knock out the defending champions and power United to a quarter-final spot.

Pep Guardiola made nine changes to his side, who are now six games without a win in all competitions, his worst run as a manager. However, it was uninspiring football that took place with City being overpowered by the United players. The victory was United's second in five matches, and Mourinho's fourth in 18 meetings with Guardiola.
