Patna railway station authorities have blocked access to porn sites on the free Wi-Fi service at the station, PTI reported. Authorities took the step 10 days after reports surfaced about rampant use of the free internet service at the station to view porn.
Arvind Razak, chief public relations officer of East Central Railway, said, “We have acted after it was found that free Wi-Fi service was used for opening porn sites at Patna railway station and also in view of reports of last week.” However, when the report about the trend came to light, RailTel had denied it.
The free Wi-Fi service was first launched in Bihar in September, with Patna being the first station to get it. There are 23 stations across the country that have free Wi-Fi. The Centre intends to expand the initiative to cover all major railway stations in the country in the next three years.
