If her last John Oliver-inspired video was any indication, rapper-activist Sofia Ashraf, famous for her video Kodaikanal Won't, which took on Hindustan Unilever over mercury dumping, has decided to explore her comedic side.
In her latest video, she looks a certain question – often asked by elderly Indian relatives – in the eye.
Nope, not "What are your future plans?". Not "Do you like this boy or girl?". It's the most dreaded one: "Is there any good news?"
Ashraf plays both the characters in the short video: the ageing mother asking the question, as well as the younger woman who answers the question to the accompaniment of a ukulele:
So is there any good news?
Actually yes.
No redness or acne post threading my ‘stache, I unlocked new levels on Candy Crush...Got 200 likes on my latest meme, I finally learned what “on fleek” means...
I could say, I would say, I got no blues...Got 1200 on my SAT score, petrol prices are at an all time low...I think I finally learnt how to twerk, wait, Mom, you didn’t need to know that.
