The principal of a school on the outskirts Hyderabad, Telangana, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly abetting the suicide of a female colleague. Police took R Sridhar into custody after A Srilatha's husband filed a complaint. The accused allegedly stalked the victim and pestered her for sexual favours, Deccan Chronicle reported.
Srilatha, who was the principal of education at Trident School in Narsinghi, Ranga Reddy district, hanged herself in her house on Monday night after the accused continued to harass her. Her relatives said she was afraid to approach the police fearing that she would lose her job. Sridhar was the principal of administration and a member of the school board.
Although her brother had tried to save her – he cut her loose and took her to a hospital – doctors declared her dead on arrival. A police officer said, "We have booked a case and arrested the suspect. He is in prison on remand. The investigation is progressing now."
