Marathi actress and dancer Ashwini Ekbote died on Saturday. She was 44. She was popular in the Marathi entertainment industry for her classical dance performances as well as her appearances on television and in films.
Ekbote collapsed during a performance at Bharat Natyamandir in Pune, PTI reported. She was taken to hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Doctors said she had suffered a major cardiac arrest.
She was well known for her performances in the films Akleche Kande (2001), Dumkata (2007) and Baavare Prem He (2014). The Marathi film industry mourned her death on Twitter.
