Lewis Hamilton conquered the Circuit of the Americas in the qualification session at the United States Grand Prix in Texas on Saturday. Hamilton beat Rosberg to pole as Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo beat teammate Max Verstappen to third, ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.
Hamilton faces a massive task in trying to overhaul the German, whose serenity has given him a 33-point lead going into Sunday’s race, the fourth last of a season that has been a trial of endurance. Hamilton has won three out of four races since 2012, although this was his first pole position, and a timely one too. Rosberg crossed the line first with the fastest lap ever here.
