Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah was detained in New York airport for security checks for around two hours, he said on Monday. The National Conference leader was checked after his arrival at the airport, which he said happens every time he visits the United States. However, he tweeted that the constant “random” checks were “growing tiresome now”.
Abdullah is in the US to speak at an event organised by New York University, and said he almost wished he had stayed home instead of going there. He added that unlike actor Shah Rukh Khan (who has also been detained for security checks in the US), he did not even catch a Pokemon.
