India's Ajay Jayaram missed out on the chance to complete a hat-trick of Dutch Open titles as he lost to Taiwan's Tzu Wei Wang 10-21, 21-17, 18-21 on Sunday.
Wang took an early advantage in the contest after comfortably beating Jayaram in the first game. Jayaram came back strongly and held his nerve to take the second game by a narrow margin. Wang stayed in the contest and clinched a hard-fought third game to defeat the top seeded Jayaram and lift the title. The match lasted for 55 minutes.
After his 2014 and 2015, Jayaram came walked into the tournament as the favourite and had beaten fifth-seed, Dane Anders Antonsen in the semi-finals.
