Day Three of the Ranji trophy saw Himachal Pradesh beat Kerala by six wickets after Gurvinder Singh bagged five wickets in the second innings for Himachal. In another match, Yuvraj Singh also played a crucial innings of 76 as Madhya Pradesh bowled them out for 175 in the second innings.
Delhi try to stage fightback against Maharashtra
After Swapnil Gugale’s historic knock of 351 to power Maharashtra to 635, Delhi’s Rishabh Pant smashed 155 to take Delhi to 376/5 at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Pant was partnered well by Dhruv Shorey and Nitish Rana, who scored 71 and 44 respectively. However, Delhi still trail by 259 runs. With only a day’s play remaining, the match looks to be headed towards a draw. Mohsin Sayyed was the pick of the bowlers for Maharashtra taking 3/73.
Baroda power on against Mumbai
Defending champions were bowled out for 323 in the first innings against Baroda as Irfan Pathan and Sagar Mangalorkar bagged three wickets apiece. In the second innings, Baroda was powered by a brilliant 145 by Kedar Devdhar to take his side to 321/5. With a lead of 303 runs, Mumbai will have to up the ante if they are to win the match.
Gurvinder Singh powers Himachal to win
Himachal Pradesh beat Kerala by six wickets in their second Ranji encounter on at Eden Garden, Kolkata on Saturday. Kerala were bowled out for 115 in their second innings owing to the heroics of Gurvinder Singh who took 5/37. Himachal need 103 to win and reached the target with six wickets to spare.
Yuvraj’s 76 might decide fate of the match
Punjab captain Yuvraj Singh played a crucial knock of 76 as his side declared on 175/9 in their second innings against Madhya Pradesh at Lahli. Yuvraj was the only player who scored a half century for his side as Ishwar Pandey bagged three wickets for MP, who were 26/1 at the end of day’s play and required another 281 runs for victory.
