Police in the German city of Duisburg on Thursday said they were investigating a couple who allegedly tried to sell their infant on auctioning website eBay, AP reported. The 40-day-old girl was listed on the website for a sum of €5,000 (approximately Rs 3,68,934) on Tuesday, according to officials.
The officials said police conducted a raid of the couple’s house on Wednesday and seized evidence suggesting that the listing was uploaded from their internet connection. However, they added that other members of family had access to the internet connection. Police said the "refugee" couple are being questioned on suspicions of human trafficking.
