In what would be described as the massive coup, Delhi Dynamos coach Gianluca Zambrotta opened up the possibility of Manchester United's star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing in the Indian Super League in the future.
"Given his fan following in India, I think Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] would want to come and end his career here. On my end, I will definitely try and convince him to play for Delhi Dynamos,” Zambrotta was quoted a saying in an Indian Express report.
Zambrotta and Ibrahimovic were teammates at Italian Serie A giants Juventus for two seasons. The 35-year-old Swede has been a journeyman footballer, having played in six different leagues across Europe.
The Dynamos setup has gained a reputation for recruiting some of the biggest yesteryear names such as Roberto Carlos and Alessandro del Piero.
Zambrotta was appointed Dynamos' head coach just before the third season of the ISL, and the team has got off to a steady start, beating defending champions Chennayin FC in their first game before drawing 0-0 against struggling Kerala Blasters.
