Nico Rosberg continued to get the better of Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton as the German clinched pole position in the Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday. Rosberg edged his rival by just 0.013 seconds in what was a thrilling end to qualifying.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen finished third while despite finishing fourth, Sebastian Vettel will be starting in the seventh place because of a three-place grid penalty. Rosberg currently leads Hamilton by 23 points in the Drivers' standings.
The Red Bulls drivers, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo finished fifth and sixth with the contest running incredibly close between them too. Verstappen pipped his senior teammate by 0.062 seconds. This was Rosberg's eight pole position of the season.
