Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Friday said Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has "crossed all limits" and insulted the Indian Army by his “dalali” remark about the surgical strikes carried out on terror launch pads in Pakistan on September 29. Shah said, "Is the blood of our soldiers something that you can trade… Just want to ask Rahul Gandhi, is dalali a word to refer to the Indian Army and their efforts to save the country."
The BJP leader said the Congress leaders statement reflects the party’s mindset. He urged all political parties to refrain from politicising the issue, and said leaders should work towards building confidence in the country’s armed forces. He said, "The uproar that is happening in Pakistan is enough proof for the surgical strikes, the sceptical political parties can analyse that." He pointed out that an emergency Cabinet session was called in Pakistan after the strikes, reported ANI.
Shah said, "Rahul Gandhi should concentrate on the aloo ki factory rather than comment on big issues," according to NDTV. He said this in reference to a recent statement made by Gandhi at a farmers' rally in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi had said, "You all are demanding a potato factory in your area, but you should understand I am an opposition leader, I can put pressure on the government, but cannot take the decision. I cannot open a potato factory for farmers."
Addressing a gathering at the Congress' "Kisan Yatra" at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Gandhi had said, ''Jo hamare jawan hain jinhone...Jammu and Kashmir mein khoon diya hai, jinhone Hindustan ke liye surgical strike kiye hain, unke khoon ke peeche aap chhupe hain. Unki aap dalali kar rahe ho. Yeh bilkul galat hai. [You (Modi) are hiding behind the blood soldiers shed in Kashmir and the blood of those who carried out the surgical strikes for India. You are exploiting their sacrifices, which is very wrong.]"
