Security personnel on Wednesday captured another boat suspected to be from Pakistan off the coast of Gujarat's Kutch district, The Indian Express reported. Creek patrol personnel of the Border Security Force spotted the suspicious wooden boat in Indian waters. Nine Pakistani nationals on board the seized vessel were taken into custody and are being questioned, according to ANI.
This development comes three days after a fishing boat with nine crew members from the neighbouring country was intercepted. The Indian Coast Guard is interrogating the crew. On October 4, BSF personnel found an empty boat from Pakistan in the Ravi river near Amritsar.
A high alert was issued along the coasts of Gujarat and Maharashtra on October 3 after two boats were spotted sailing off the coast of Karachi towards India. Officials had earlier said that Gujarat's sensitive sea territories had been "sanitised".
Ties between India and Pakistan worsened after the September 18 attack on the Indian Army base in Kashmir's Uri sector. While India has accused Islamabad of harbouring terrorists who planned the strike, Pakistan has dismissed the claims and called them baseless.
