Prasar Bharti Chief Executive Officer Jawahar Sircar on Monday submitted his resignation to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, The Financial Express reported. Sircar, whose tenure is supposed to end in February 2017, has sought to step down from his office in the first week of November.
The head of the broadcasting corporation, which runs Doordarshan and Akashvani, was appointed to his post in 2012 by the previous Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance government.
Sircar was reportedly finding it difficult to reach a consensus with Prasar Bharti board members on his decisions regarding the administration of the organisation, according to The Economic Times. The Centre had recently appointed former I&B secretary Sunil Arora an advisor to the corporation for the purpose of bringing in reforms. The CEO of Prasar Bharti reportedly manages state-owned Doordarshan and All India Radio.
