Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova lost the women's doubles final of the Wuhan Open after they were beaten in straight sets by American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Czech Lucie Safarova on Saturday. The third seeds lost 1-6, 4-6 to the fifth seeded pair in a final that lasted a little over an hour.
Mattek-Sands and Safarova decimated their opponents in the first set winning it 1-6. The second set saw the Indian and her partner fighting back, but eventually losing the set and match 6-4.
Mirza had won the Wuhan Open title last year, partnering Martina Hingis. However, after ending her doubles partnership with her, Mirza has won three titles in her last four tournaments.
