Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova lost in the women's doubles final of the Wuhan Open after they were beaten by American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Czech Lucie Safarova in straight sets on Saturday.
The third seeds lost 1-6, 4-6 in a match in which they were outplayed in all aspects of the game. The duo were eyeing their third title together, but were stunned by the fifth seeds.
Mattek-Sands and Safarova decimated their opponents in the first set winning it 1-6 and never gave Mirza and Strycova a chance to stage a comeback.
The second set was also a drab affair with Mirza and Strycova failing to find their winning touch. They eventually lost the set 6-4 and the match, which lasted for a little over an hour. Mirza had won the Wuhan Open title last year, partnering Martina Hingis.
