India continued their excellent form in the hockey men's Under-18 Asia Cup and held their nerve in a high-scoring final against hosts Bangladesh to clinch the game in the dying seconds, winning 5-4 to lift the tournament in Dhaka on Friday.
Things were tight between the two teams in the first quarter but the floodgates opened when Bangladesh took the lead. Indian immediately leveled scores and it was 1-1 at half-time. The advantage oscillated back and forth as Bangladesh took a 2-1 lead but India hit back twice in almost no time to take the lead.
It was 4-4 going into the final minute of the game. Each time India took the lead, Bangladesh found the reserves to equalise. With 20 seconds left on the clock, India finally managed a winner in the dying seconds to clinch the trophy.
Vice-captain Hardik Singh was announced as the Man of the Match. Last year, the India U-21 side also won the Asia Cup.
