Bengaluru FC finished with an advantage at the end of the first leg of the AFC Cup semi-final in Malaysia after drawing 1-1 against the country's Johor Darul Ta'zim. Bengaluru were dominated by Ta'zim, who took the lead through striker Pereyra Diaz's header from a corner. Within minutes, Albert Roca's side levelled the score with a tremendous strike from Indian international Eugeneson Lyngdoh.
The home side, buoyed by a packed house at the Larkin stadium, were clearly the better side in the first half, during which they fired a flurry of shots. But, Amrinder Singh on goal was a powerful presence and denied the Ta'zim forwards on many an occasion. Ta'zim's finish also left a lot to be desired.
Pereyra Diaz nodded home skipper Safiq Rahim's corner but minutes later, Bengaluru's Lyngdoh levelled the score with a long-ranger. The second leg will be played in Bengaluru on the October 19.
