Ravichandran Ashwin's 10-wicket haul in the first Test against New Zealand at Kanpur has catapulted him to second spot on the International Cricket Council's Test Player Rankings for bowlers.

Ashwin, who is currently on 870 points, overtook English pacer James Anderson who is one point behind him on the rankings. The No. 1 spot is taken by South African pacer Dale Steyn who leads Ashwin by seven points.

The Indian player became the No. 1 bowler in the world last year in December after his performance in the series against South Africa. He is currently No. 1 on the all-rounders' list with a substantial 66-point lead over second-placed Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh.
