Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap lost their opening encounters at the Korea Open Super Series on Wednesday. Srikanth, who is the World No. 14, lost to Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent 21-10, 22-24, 21-17 while Kashyap lost 22-20, 10-21, 13-21 to fourth seed Tian Houwei from China in 53 minutes.
HS Prannoy was also beaten 23-21, 17-21, 15-21 by Wang Tzu Wei from Chinese Taipei. India’s only woman representative at the tournament Tanvi Lad lost to Denmark's Anna Thea Madsen 18-21, 21-13, 18-21.
However, it was not all gloom for India as Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth advanced to the second round. Jayaram defeated Korea's Jeon Hyeok Jin 23-21, 21-18 and will face China's Huang Yuxiang in round two.
Praneeth won 21-13, 12-21, 21-15 over Chinese Taipei's Hsu Jen Hao and will face Korea's Son Wan Ho in the next round.
