American television network ABC’s Quantico, starring Hindi movie star Priyanka Chopra, is back on the small screen. In its second year, the thriller has received accolades as well as bewildered reviews for its many twists and turns. The show airs on the Star World and Star World HD channels in India on Mondays at 9pm.

Quantico has its share of convoluted terrorist plots, political intrigue and bomb blasts gone awry. In the first hour-long episode of season two, Kudove, Alex Parrish (Chopra) is caught up in yet another controversy. Working as an undercover agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Central Intelligence Agency, Chopra is battling terrorists. Helping her out is beau Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin) who has also infiltrated the CIA to uncover a rogue faction of operatives inside the agency.

The recruits have to deal with a terrorist group called the Citizens’ Liberation Front that is terrorising New York City. In the episode, Chopra ends up behind the enemy lines right in time to witness a brutal decapitation.

It is all very serious business, but Chopra’s straightened hair in the new season has not gone unnoticed. Fusion has a piece titled “I only watch Quantico for Priyanka Chopra’s hair.”

“Priyanka Chopra’s hair deserves its own Emmy,” the article states. “Priyanka’s hair is used by the show to denote time and place. And because every single scene seems to take place in a different time and place, the easiest way to distinguish that something is happening in the “past” or the “present” is through whatever is happening on Priyanka’s head. In the series premiere last fall alone, her character Alex Parrish sported six different hairstyles.”

Chopra’s hairdos have even spawned a dedicated Twitter handle praising every flick of her tresses. Named Alex Parrish’s Hair, the Twitter account, @ParrishHairPorn, has a bio which reads, “brb just selling my soul to @priyankachopra's hair”.

On deeper issues, such as the beheading, Hollywood Reporter felt that the TV series made a bold statement: “Quantico is no stranger to killing off characters, but [series creator Josh] Safran makes it clear that the decision to push the storyline to such brutal lengths is not for entertainment sake. Instead, it’s meant to reflect the real terror threats of the world today.”

TV Fanatic was not very happy with the number of time jumps and flashes in Quantico , especially the new episode: “We had to endure quite a few time jumps within the first five minutes. I honestly stopped counting them after the third one. To make matters even better, we mixed things up with some location jumps as well.”

According to TV Over Mind, the audience could be in for another interesting story this season: “There’s definitely a lot of potential for some of these newbies to become standouts, but, for now, the returning cast remains the strongest part of the series.”

Hypable reiterates, “We can’t wait to hopefully see more of our season 1 people get involved, and maybe a few of these fresh faces will join the cause and fight alongside Alex Parrish and company.”

Blasting News is also excited about the show’s progress, “Priyanka Chopra remains at the top of her game playing Alex, who’s now playing a new ball game.”
