India's top-ranked ladies' golfer Aditi Ashok, finished 8th after the third round of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino on Saturday, held at the Aloha Golf Club located in the Spanish city of Marbella.
Ashok, the 18-year old ranked 359th in the world, finished the penultimate round at even-par and tied eighth. She had a mixed day with three bogeys and six birdies, but stayed in contention for another top-10 finish on the European Ladies Tour. Ashok finished tied-ninth at the ISPS Handa Ladies European Masters held in Dusseldorf earlier this month. This was incidentally her first career top-10 finish as a professional golfer.
The Bengalurean was very forthright in her assessment of her round. She told PTI, “I missed a few putts that I normally wouldn’t miss. Also I three-putted from the fringe a couple of times. Then I missed some greens on par-4s, so I was always scrambling for pars and even there I didn’t make a couple.”
Beth Allen of the US led the way with 9-under par with a 67. Following Allen was Spaniard and home-favourite Azhara Munoz a stroke behind the American.
