India’s Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova beat Japan's Miyu Kato and China's Yifan Xu 6-2, 6-2 to enter the semi-finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday. The Indo-Czech duo will face the unseeded pair of Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and Spain's Maria Jose Martina Sanchez for a place in the final. This is Mirza and Strycova's third tournament together.
Last month, Mirza and her new partner Strycova clinched the Cincinnati Open title with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe in the final. However, the pair suffered an early exit in the US Open, going down in straight sets in the quarter-finals to Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.
