Following the attack in Uri in Kashmi, a video on YouTube immediately viral on social media and WhatsApp. In it, an Indian soldier can be seen reciting the poem Kashmir to hoga, lekin Pakistan nahi hoga‘ – a poem popularised by Sadhvi Balika Saraswati of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
The video was uploaded to YouTube on September 18, after the Uri incident, and claims were made that it was Indian soldiers warning Pakistan of a retaliation. However, it wasn't related to the Uri attack in any way. The solder had made the video on July 26, to mark Kargil Day.
Videos like these are fast turning into propaganda tools as emotionally charged audiences quickly share them, irrespective of their veracity. In another instance, a video recorded a day before the attack was also shared as the Pakistan Defence Minister's purported response to India's response to the attack. It had actually been shot earlier.
