India are set to take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series, which begin on Thursday. The last time, India played a three-Test series against the Kiwis was back in 2010. After the first two Tests were drawn, India won the series after clinching victory in the decisive third Test at Nagpur.
The hero of that Nagpur Test was none other than Rahul Dravid, who hit a brilliant 191 in the second innings of the match. Dravid shared a 193-run sixth-wicket stand with Mahendra Singh Dhoni to lead the hosts to a total of 566 for eight declared in reply to the Kiwi's 193. This was his second century in the series after he hit 104 in the first Test at Ahmedabad that ended in a draw. Dravid smashed 21 fours in his almost 10-hour long innings. He looked set for his sixth double-century but was caught by Martin Guptill as he attempted to loft then part-timer and now New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.
Dravid found able partners in Sachin Tendulkar (61) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (98) who helped India reach a mammoth total. New Zealand were bowled out for 175 and India won the match by an innings and 198 runs to spare. They won the series, owing to the heroics of Dravid, who scored his 31st Test century.
