Ten militants were killed on Tuesday in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector, reported ANI. The militants were reportedly trying to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the border. One jawan has also been reportedly killed in the encounter, according to ABP news. The fire exchange took place in the Lachipura area.
The operation is still underway as the Army believes there are five more infiltrators in the region. This comes only two days after an army base was attacked by militants in the region. The attack on September 18 left 18 soldiers dead. On the same day, Pakistan fired shots along the Line of Control in violation of the ceasefire agreement with India. The Indian Army also retaliated.
Another gun battle was reported from the state's Handwara area. Four or five militants are believed be involved, and one soldier has reportedly been injured.
