Kolkata airport authorities reportedly received a call on Tuesday morning from a woman who threatened to blow up a Guwahati-bound Air India flight. No passenger had boarded the flight when the call was made. The flight was scheduled to depart at 9.50 am. The flight was delayed by around two hours.
An official told India Today, "A woman introduced herself as calling from Rajarhat and informed that Air India flight AI 729 from Kolkata to Guwahati will be blown off at 9.30 am." The Bidhannagar City Police later tracked down the caller, reported dna.
Following the threat call, search operations were conducted at the airport, and the Air India aircraft was isolated. Kolkata Airport Director Atul Dixit said, "A bomb threat was received on Air India 729 flight flying to Guwahati from Kolkata. However, the case has been disposed of and action has been taken as per the standard operating procedures."
