Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has sparked a controversy by commenting that he did not believe in "biopics on cricketers". Gambhir made the statement in a tweet on Sunday.
The Indian cricketer then tried to clarify, through a later tweet, that he was referring to the Indian soldiers killed in the terrorist attack in Uri in Kashmir on Sunday.
Gambhir's tweet came in the backdrop of a biopic on Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni titled MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, starring Sushant Rajput, which will release on September 30. A biographical film on Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is also under production.
The timing of Gambhir's statement, has reopened a can of worms on the alleged feud between Dhoni and the Delhi batsman. Gambhir and Dhoni joined hands to deliver India the 2011 World Cup on home soil but Gambhir subsequently lost his place from the Indian side from all formats. Earlier this year, there was a biopic on another Indian skipper, Mohammed Azharuddin.
