The big news: The farewell Boom Boom won't get
The upcoming West Indies-Pakistan series will not be a farewell series for Pakistani cricket star Shahid Afridi, after he was left out of the squad for the three scheduled Twenty20 Internationals later in September.
According to the ESPNCricinfo report, Afridi would have reportedly been added to the squad as a 16th member as part of a planned farewell by the Pakistan Cricket Board. However the move fell through due to the absence of PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan and executive committee head Najam Sethi.
Afridi had planned to retire from Twenty20 Internationals after the World Twenty20 this year but then changed his mind after the tournament, choosing to continue as player and resigning as captain. Earlier in the week, the flamboyant all-rounder had revealed that there had been no pressure on him from the PCB regarding retirement.
