It was a disappointing for India at the Rio Paralympics on Saturday with Karam Jyoti failing to get off the mark in the Women’s Discus Throw F55 event after three unsuccessful throws. Jyoti, who is ranked No. 8 in the world, seemed to let the occasion get the better of her, failing to get a successful throw.
In the men’s Shot Put F57 event, Virender Dhankar failed to grab a medal as he finished eighth with a best throw of 11.62 m in six attempts. Dhankar, who is ranked fifth in the world, was not at his best. China’s Guoshan Wu won the gold with a throw of 14.42 m throw followed by Janusz Rokicki of Poland getting silver with 14.26 m. Javid Shakib Ehsani of Iran took the bronze with a 14.13 m throw.
