India’s Rampal Chahar finished an impressive sixth in the men’s high jump T-47 final at the Rio Paralympics on Saturday. Chahar cleared a personal best of 1.93 metres, but missed fell short of a bronze medal by 0.6 metres to win a bronze medal.
Roderick Townsend Roberts of United States secured gold with a Paralympic record jump of 2.09 metres, followed by China’s Hongjie Chen, who won silver with a jump of 1.99 metres, with Aaron Chatman of Australia securing bronze.
So far, India has secured four medals in the Paralympics with two golds – including one for Mariyappan Thangavelu in the men's high jump T-42 – one silver and a bronze.
