The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said as many as 911 people have tested positive for Chikungunya and 9,427 more are suspected to be suffering from the disease across Karnataka. However, the issue has taken a back seat as the state is embroiled in the Cauvery water issue. The data, which was taken till September 11, reveals that Karnataka currently has more than 50% of the total number of suspected cases in the country.

However, Delhi is on the top of the list of states with confirmed cases of chikungunya, with 1,057 people affected, reported The Indian Express. But the number of suspected cases in Delhi is far below that of Karnataka. The national Capital currently has 1,724 suspected cases, against Karnataka's 9,427. The next in line is Maharashtra, where the first death caused by the diseases reported on Wednesday.

The total number of suspected chikungunya cases in the country is 14,656 and confirmed cases are 2,897. States like Meghalaya, Tripura and Punjab have also seen many cases of the disease. In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, 765 patients tested positive for vector-borne disease dengue till September 13, reported The Times of India. Assam, Bihar and Rajasthan are the only three states that her not yet reported any cases of dengue.
