The slushy marshes of the Parana Delta in Argentina are generating a lot of excitement ever since scientists stumbled upon a curious island in the region – an island that rotates around its own axis.
According to Press TV, the island, referred to as "The Eye", is 118 meters in diameter and is located in a "pond of water". Scientists claim it has been around since 2003.
The island’s fascinating characteristics made scientists sceptical about its being a natural development. Its shape is far too perfect and circular – both its inner and outer circles are rather well-shaped.
No wonder conspiracy theories have arisen. According to one of them, the island is actually a secret base for aliens. UFO Sightings Daily creator Scott C Waring believes that the island is large enough to allow a UFO to use it to pass beneath the surface of the earth. Since it rotates on its own axis, aliens can effectively conceal the entrance to their base.
A group comprising scientists and filmmakers are trying to go a step further with a Kickstarter campaign, which is on till October 10, to help them understand the mysterious island better.
