At least four people were killed and more than 50 others others were injured when two trains collided at Pakistan’s Buch railway station near Multan on Wednesday night, reported AFP. The Karachi-bound Awami Express hit a stationary goods train, after the driver allegedly failed to heed a red signal.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Multan. Rescue emergency officer Dr Kaleem said at least 40 ambulances and 200 rescuers were called in to help with the relief operations. The country's army was also brought in to help. Saima Khizar, Director Vigilance of Pakistan Railways, Multan Division, said it would take up to 18 hours for the local administration to make the track functional again.
