The Indian men's basketball team, ranked 53rd in the world, pulled off a big upset, defeating world No. 14 China 70-64 in their second game of the second round at the FIBA Asia Challenge on Tuesday in Tehran.
Amritpal Singh was the star of the show, scoring 23 points and getting 14 rebounds as the Indians put in their best performance of the tournament. India trailed 14-17 after the first quarter, but bounced back to win the next two. The fourth quarter began with India leading 51-45 and despite a strong Chinese fightback, they kept their nose ahead to record a fantastic win.
In the first round of the tournament, India defeated the Philippines, but lost to Chinese Taipei. In their first match of the second round, they went down 65-121 to Jordan.
