At least 24 women constables from the Delhi Police have accused an inspector from the Provisioning and Logistics unit of sexually harassing them. According to The Hindu, the complaint was filed two months ago, but no action has been taken so far. One constable reportedly told senior officers about the harassment five months ago, leading the others to speak up one by one.
The first complainant had claimed that the inspector asked her to meet him in private, and continued to harass her when she declined, The Indian Express reported. Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said the complaint had been received, but there has been no other official word from the unit so far.
The women have sent copies of the complaint to Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma and the Delhi Commission for Women. Verma is believed to have put the complaint before a sexual harassment committee.
