India’s Ankur Dhama failed to qualify for the final of the 1,500-metre race at the Rio Paralympics on Sunday despite finishing second in the heats. Dhama clocked four minutes and 37.61 seconds in Heat 1 , behind Turkey’s Semih Deniz, who won with four minutes and 11.75 seconds. Dhama missed the cut for the final as only the group winners and three fastest losers in the heats qualified.
However, Dhama, who is blind, has filed an official complaint with the help of the Sports Ministry that his guide runner Vipin was pushed by Deniz owing to which he lost precious time, according to a report by Sportskeeda. The International Paralympic Committee will take the decision on Monday.
