Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is set to visit Delhi on September 15, said he is looking forward to rebuilding the trust between the two countries. Dahal, popularly known as Prachanda, said the people of his country have a lot of trust on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Modiji and I think in similar ways, and we have chemistry. There is a difference in circumstances and our ideology, but that is a different issue.”
Nepal’s Foreign Affairs Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat will visit India on Sunday to finalise the agendas of the meeting between the prime ministers of the two neighbouring countries. He has a meeting scheduled with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday afternoon, reported the Kathmandu Post.
Meanwhile, Nepal may amend its Constitution to include the demands by the Madhesi community, reported The Telegraph. The step likely to improve the bilateral ties between the countries. The Madhesi community, largely of Indian origin, are opposed to the Nepal's new Constitution that divides their ancestral homeland under a seven-province structure. The community wants the government to demarcate their province and fix electoral constituencies on the basis of population and proportional representation. In February, they called off a five-month blockade along the Indo-Nepal border.
Regarding China, Prachanda told the Hindustan Times that it had no role to play in Indo-Nepal ties. He added, "I don’t think it is carrying any ideology. For them, business and economy are important."
