The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Friday asked comedian Kapil Sharma to register a formal complaint and name the civic officer who he had alleged had demanded a bribe. Chief Engineer (Vigilance) M Pawar said the BMC "does not tolerate" such corruption in its departments and that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven true, ANI reported.
Sharma had tweeted earlier on Friday that he was asked to pay Rs 5 lakh when he approached the BMC for the construction of his office. "I am paying 15 cr income tax from last 5 year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office," he said. Sharma also tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in another tweet and questioned whether these were his "achhe din [good days]", referring to Modi's election promise.
