The Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, South Africa and the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad were handed official warnings by the International Cricket Council on Thursday. Both venues hosted Test matches in August which were heavily curtailed due to poor outfield conditions.

The match referees for the respective games had earlier deemed the outfields "poor". A report from ESPNCricinfo stated that the grounds would be handed a warning or a fine of $15,000 and "a directive for appropriate corrective action".

The Queen's Park Oval saw only 22 overs being played in the fourth Test between West Indies and India while South Africa's first Test with New Zealand in Kingsmead saw 11 out of 15 sessions lost.

"The sanctions take into account Durban and Port of Spain venues’ history of producing good conditions for international cricket and commitment by both the boards to take appropriate steps to ensure similar events are not repeated in future," said the ICC, in a statement.
