Shuttler Ajay Jayaram became the sole Indian survivor in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Grand Prix after beating local player Reksy Aureza Megananda 18-21, 21-12, 21-19, making a strong comeback after losing the first game. The third-seeded Jayaram had earlier registered a convincing win against compatriot Parupalli Kashyap 21-7, 21-12.
There were other Indians who made the exit from the competition along with Kashyap, as HS Prannoy and B Sai Praneeth also bowed out. Sai Praneeth lost to Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand 21-14, 21-13. Prannoy's 19-21, 21-19, 23-21 loss came as a bit of a surprise, going down to China's Huang Yuxiang, who is ranked 16 places below the Indian.
