Have you heard of RD Sharma? If you've taken the CBSE examination in school, you may not have had a choice. For Sharma is synonymous with the CBSE mathematics guidebooks.
That's right, mathematics.
Now wonder, then, that a reporter who wanted goes to interview Sharma had to present tangible proof of his maths marks from his board exams, as well as a satisfactory score, to get access to the man.
Not the real Sharma, of course, for this is in a video sketch about mathematics and its endless horrors, made to mark Teacher's Day on September 5. As a tribute to teachers and an ode to the challenges associated with learning, the video pokes fun at the fear associated with the dreaded subject.
Sharma, according to a Quora user, was indeed a strict mentor who was extremely demanding in his classes. He was known for constantly quizzing his students and questioning them. The video echoes this, with the reporter, the domestic help, the neighbour – everyone – expected to be up to speed when it comes to his endless barrage of questions.
The sketch has managed to attract eclectic responses – from people explaining what set squares are to several nostalgic responses and comments on the legendary teacher.
