The big news: Allardyce starts off with nervy win
England’s newly appointed manger Sam Allardyce must have been a nervous wreck as his side battled on for 90 minutes against Slovakia on Sunday. However, in stoppage time, Liverpool's Adam Lallana scored a last-gasp goal to give England the win in their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. England’s next encounter will be against Malta on October 8 at home.
The English side were tamed by a determined Slovakian defence but, after Slovakia captain Martin Skrtel was red-carded after a second foul, Wayne Rooney's team began the offensive push. In injury team, Lallana slotted the ball behind the net to give the England dugout a huge moment of relief and joy as England look to push on from here.
