The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday appointed Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi as the party's Punjab unit convener, PTI reported. This comes after AAP's Political Affairs Committee decided to remove Sucha Singh Chhotepur from the post following allegations that he had taken money from a party volunteer and promised a government office in return.
A video had emerged in which he was purportedly seen taking a packet of cash from the volunteer. But Chhotepur had denied the claims, saying he was merely accepting "party fund". However, it is against party policies to accept donations in cash. A number of top leaders had demanded action against Chhotepur and approached AAP's national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
