The Indo-Swiss pairing of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis lost their mixed doubles second round match to seventh seeded American duo of Coco Vandeweghe and Rajeev Ram on Sunday. Paes and Hingis, who were unseeded for the tournament, but still one of the favourites for the title, lost the match 6(1)-7 6-3 11-13. Their loss eliminated the possibility of a quarter-final showdown between Paes and fellow Indian Sania Mirza, who plays her second-round match with Croatian partner Ivan Dodig against Barbora Krejcikova and Marin Draganja later on Sunday. Mirza and Dodig are the top seeds in the draw.
Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski are through to the quarter-finals after beating Andrea Hlavackova and Lukasz Kubot in the second round. They will face Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Colombia's Robert Farah in the last-eight clash. If Bopanna and Dabrowski reach the semi-finals, they could face Mirza and Dodig there, if the Indo-Croatian pair comes through.
